Dog-friendly Shopping in Seattle

We go down to Seattle a lot (partly because I always find myself craving a Sonic vanilla malt), and we’ve been taking Stella with us. Last summer, we came across University Village, a great place to shop by the University of Washington – Madewell, Anthropologie, Free People, among many, many others. What I especially love about it is that most shops are dog friendly (the sticker on the window will tell you whether or not your pup is welcome). There is also a great pet store called Mud Bay, as well as several great restaurants with patios/outdoor seating. The place itself is very dog-friendly, even holding an event called FidoFEST every September.

Because I have the biggest sweet tooth in the world, I absolutely cannot leave University Village without stopping at Trophy Cupcakes – the cupcakes are moist, the frosting is great, and they have some of the best flavours. I particularly like salted caramel, hummingbird (banana-pineapple cake with cream cheese frosting), and pink lemonade. Then there’s The Confectionery, where I pick up some of the prettiest (and yummiest) chocolate-covered pretzels, and lastly, Fran’s Chocolates – my mom and I are kind of obsessed with their gray and smoked salt caramels.
