A lot has happened since I wrote about the cheeseburger at the Museum Tavern. After an insane last few weeks, I’m finally sitting down at the computer surrounded by some of my leftover Easter chocolates (Reese’s eggs), and I’m going to tell you all about it.
Like I said, the past few weeks have been insane – but insane in the best way possible. Three weeks ago, Adam and I got engaged. He was at my apartment when I got home from work that Friday night, and caught me completely by surprise. I was not expecting him to be there at all, since I would be visiting him the following weekend for Easter. But he had it all planned – a staycation at a beautiful hotel downtown and a weekend full of food. It was the best.

After he proposed (and I said yes), we went to beautiful Scaramouche for dinner. We both had the roast duck (brushed with honey and perfectly cooked), Adam tried the octopus, we shared one of the best coconut cream pies I’ve ever had for dessert, and enjoyed the view of Toronto’s skyline.

The next morning, we started the day off with brunch at The Senator: French toast, banana pancakes and bacon. Standard, simple and so, so good.

Dinner that night was at The Richmond Station. We split butter chicken fried chicken, I had the heritage pork (with the yummiest black kale and mustard jus), and Adam had their signature burger. For dessert, we split the featured seabuckthorn panna cotta with sea salt ice cream, chocolate pudding and blue velvet crumble. It was too weird to pass up, and thank God we didn’t because it was amazing.

After dinner, we went to Barchef for some crazy cocktails and rosemary fries. We each chose a multi-sensory “modernist” cocktail. Adam had the Sailors Mojito and I had the Daiquiri Adaptation. They were very, very cool, but neither of us anticipated how strong they were going to be. Thank God we had ordered fries.
We capped off the best weekend with more pancakes, mimosas and bacon at Mildred’s Temple Kitchen.
It has been an exciting and busy few weeks, and I couldn’t be happier. Now onto cake tasting and dress shopping.

AHH I’m so excited!!! Congratulations again love!
