I’m home from another long-weekend Thunder Bay trip to see Adam (and the always adorable, Lily). Being the long-distance, food-loving couple that we are, we spent the majority of the weekend eating, and it was the best. Here’s a rundown of our weekend consumption:
I arrived pretty late on Friday night, so we stayed in with some of my guilty pleasures: Parisian potatoes, béarnaise sauce, and champagne gummy bears.
Saturday breakfast saw the best Finnish pancakes topped with strawberries and whipped cream, with a side of bacon and homefries at Kangas Sauna. Saturday lunch saw movie nachos with extra jalapenos. Saturday dinner saw arancini, and perfectly cooked duck followed by maple crème brulee.
Sunday brunch consisted of more Finnish pancakes and bacon for Adam, and a Ukrainian eggs benedict for me (kielbasa and latkes in place of Canadian bacon and English muffins). Sunday’s late lunch consisted of dive bar wings and fries. Sunday dinner consisted of antojitos, chicken bites and kettle chips. Somewhere in between, we stopped for DQ sundaes. Lily had a vanilla cone.
And finally, spinach dip and BBQ chicken flatbread, followed by cotton candy milkshakes for lunch on Monday before I headed back to Toronto.
Living apart, Adam and I don’t get to have lunches and dinners together. So when we’re together, we can’t help but go all out.
