Call me crazy, but winter walks along the beach are my favourite: the grey clouds, varying degrees of rain, and the waves white and frothy against the rocks. And this morning, nature gave me the perfect Vancouver send-off – a morning cold and drizzly enough to warrant Hunters and a sweater, complete with a light wind and frothy waves. One of the best things about the Pacific Northwest is the coast that is as beautiful in the pouring rain as in the blazing sun.

Afterward, it was time for chocolate chip cookies and apricot-almond scrolls at Beaucoup Bakery & Cafe.
