One of my favourite things to do on a summer evening is take Stella for a walk by the water at Garry Point, then sit down for dinner with family and friends at one of the patios in Steveston Village. We love Paesano’s and Tapenade, but I think the family favourite is a cup of chowder and a paper cone of deep-fried halibut and fries right on the pier at Pajo’s. We met up with family for one such dinner recently – fish & chips, followed by gelato in fresh-made waffle cones – and it was a great time. Simple and unadorned, but something I’ll miss terribly when I leave Vancouver for southwestern Ontario at the end of the summer.
