I love trying new restaurants. I don’t care if they end up being terrible – I just love the experience. Over Christmas break, we went to a restaurant we had never been to – Hub Restaurant. It was an on-trend craft beer + moules frites type of place. I loved it immediately, but I’ll be honest, service was horrendous. The food was their saving grace.
We had the squid to start – salty and spicy and wok-fried, just the way I like it. Then I had the crab grilled cheese which was easily the best part of the meal – lots and lots of crab with a side of cocktail sauce (and yam fries). Others had burgers and the mac ‘n cheese, which they all enjoyed. And for dessert, the “pazookie” – a cookie (your choice of either chocolate chip, oatmeal chocolate chip – which unfortunately, had raisins – triple chocolate brownie, or white chocolate macadamia) baked in a cast iron skillet and served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I had chocolate chip.
Like I said, saving grace.
