I was beginning to lose hope for the Windsor food scene until my good friend took me to El Mayor for a Middle Eastern dinner after we had worked up an appetite grocery shopping. I’d never had such good hummus – creamy and smooth, just garlicky enough, and perfectly swirled and drizzled with olive oil. And the accompanying pitas were warm and thin, the way they should be.

We had the barbeque platter for two, and having had the hummus and fattoush to start, we just barely got through half of it. It came with rice, beef kafta, beef kabab, chicken tawook, and this incredibly spicy garlic sauce.

Best dinner I’ve had in awhile.
